Missouri Department of Transportation will close a portion of I-70 Drive. Southwest for construction beginning Tuesday. The road will remain closed for 30 to 60 days while MoDOT widens Stadium Boulevard and connects I-70 Drive Southwest to the new interchange.

COLUMBIA — I-70 Drive Southwest will be closed between Stadium Boulevard and Knipp Street for 30 to 60 days starting Tuesday.

The closure will start after morning rush hour, said Kirsten Munck, assistant to the resident engineer at the Missouri Department of Transportation. Munck said the detour will have drivers exit I-70 Drive Southwest at Stadium Boulevard and use Bernadette Drive until it intersects with Knipp Street.

The construction will add two lanes to Stadium Boulevard and rebuild part of I-70 Drive Southwest, according to a news release from MoDOT. Drivers should anticipate heavy traffic and plan accordingly when traveling in the area.

Supervising editor is Allie Hinga.
