Carl Thomas Traxler, March 10, 1927 — Sept. 1, 2013

Carl Thomas Traxler, 86, of Columbia, MO, passed away Sunday, September 01, 2013.

He was born March 10, 1927, in Boone County, MO to Ola Pearl (Smith) and Clint Albert Traxler.

At the age of 18, he was drafted in the United States Army and served during World War II. Carl married Martha Taylor on February 4, 1954, in Columbia, MO and she survives. He enjoyed golf, baseball, fishing and tractor pulls. Carl was a member of Sunrise Optimist Club, American Legion, the Elks Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Three Dollar Club and Fairview Methodist Church. Carl worked as a farmer on his family’s farm in Boone County all his life. Family meant everything to him.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In addition to his loving wife, Martha, Carl is survived by his son, Larry Traxler (wife, Polly ) of Columbia, MO; granddaughters: Kimberly Mabrey (husband, Greg) and Kacey Richardson (husband, Rusty) both of Columbia, MO; and first great granddaughter on the way, Katelyn Mabrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Roger.
