Ethel Rustad, November 21, 1916-September 2, 2013

Ethel Rustad, 96 of Columbia passed away, Monday, September 2, 2013 at Parkside Manor.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, September 6, 2013 at Parker Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Ethel was born November 21, 1916 in Vega, SD to Oscar and Tonnie Havlik Olson.

She married Herman Rustad in Minneapolis, MN in October 1941.

In their 47 years of marriage they lived in Minneapolis, MN, Chamberlain, Mitchel and Rapid City, SD and Columbia, MO.

Ethel was a kind and caring friend and gave loving care to many children in home daycare and Sunday School. She was a master seamstress, a gardener and wonderful baker.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists in Columbia, MO and worked in the Reading Room and taught in Sunday School.

Ethel is survived by daughters, Linda Hill and Jean Harmon; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Patrick) Quinn, Todd (Kris) Hill, Robert (Michele) Harmon and Byron (Denise) Harmon; five great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law Ester Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Florence Wilson and Elsie (Edwin) Worthing, two brothers, Fred Olson and Henry Olson and son-in-law, Lew Harmon.

Memorials may be given to First Church of Christ Scientist, Columbia, MO or the Columbia Area Senior Center.
