COLUMBIA — Boone County deputies responded to a home invasion burglary Friday evening on the 5300 block of South Ponderosa Street.

The resident told deputies that at least two men kicked in his front door and entered his home, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

When he heard the noise, the resident armed himself with a handgun and went to investigate. After seeing the resident armed, the burglars fled through a window to the roof.

One of the men was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. The resident couldn't provide information about the other man.

Deputies responded to the burglary at 10:38 p.m. Nothing was reported stolen, and no one was injured.

Supervising editor is Richard Webner.
