COLUMBIA — Missouri junior defensive lineman Markus Golden was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Line Player of the Week on Monday.
Golden opened the Tigers' second half scoring in Saturday's game with a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown. After Toledo quarterback Terrance Owens bobbled the ball while attempting a pass, Golden snagged it out of the air and carried it to the end zone.
The touchdown put Missouri up 24-9 early in the third quarter, and the Tigers held on for a 38-23 win.
Missouri (2-0) will have a bye week before traveling to play at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Indiana.
