COLUMBIA — The Islamic Center of Central Missouri is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a full calendar of events in the next week.

The center will host various opportunities until Sept. 21 for the public to learn more about Islam. The schedule includes an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the center, 201 South Fifth St.

"The open house is where we open up our mosque to the Columbia community to educate them about the basics and fundamentals of Islam," said Adam Zino, the outreach officer for the center. "We'll be having several talks throughout the day, henna tattoos, write your name in Arabic, and foods from regions where the Islam religion is predominant."

Zino said speakers' topics include women in Islam and "Islam 101," which will give attendees an overview of the religion’s basic tenets and beliefs.
