Robert McDuffie was a Gulf War veteran, volunteer fireman

Robert D. McDuffie died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in Columbia. He was 49.

He was born Feb. 4, 1964, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. McDuffie was a Gulf War Air Force veteran and volunteer fireman. He spent three weeks in New York after 9/11 performing search and rescue work.

He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and two fraternal organizations.

Mr. McDuffie is survived by his wife, Deborah McDuffie; two daughters, Taylor and Tiffany; a stepfather, Robert Bennett; and other family and friends.

His mother, Barbara Taylor Bennett, and father, Bobby McDuffie, died earlier.
