On the morning of September 25, 2013 Robert "Bob" Harold Stevens graduated from his life of serving on this earth into the arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 28, at Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, MO. A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 29, at Christian Fellowship Church, 4600 Christian Fellowship Road, Columbia, MO. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Robert was born on February 28, 1927, to Lester M. Stevens and Elva Adkins Stevens in Huntington, W.Va.
Robert and his wife, Lou, were childhood friends and grew up together along the banks of the Ohio River. After they married, Robert was employed with Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va. In 1967 he accepted a promotion to work at Kaiser Center in Oakland, Calif., and in 1970 accepted another promotion and transferred to Kaiser Refractories in Mexico, Mo.
Lou and Robert gave of themselves unconditionally not only in raising their six children and being Nannie and Papa to their nine grandchildren, but they always had a place in their home for missionaries on furlough, extended families, old and new friends, or anyone in need. They also ministered together to foreign students in Columbia, Mo., for 18 years.
Robert was an amazing symbol of God's Love and Strength; a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, patriarch, missionary, who touched hundreds of lives around the world and we rejoice that he has been reunited with his beautiful wife in heaven.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Lola Lois "Lou" Stevens, and his sister Maxine Stevens Gwilliams of Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his brother, Bill Stevens of Huntington, W.Va., his children Michael Stevens, Michele Stevens Sanders, Mark Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Marcia Stevens, and Shawn Stevens, along with his grandchildren, and other family members.
