ArtTalk: Celebrating rebellion with MU Theatre Department

Q: What artistic project or product are you excited about?

Each year, the MU Theatre Department puts on a fall musical. This fall the musical will be "Spring Awakening," and it will run from Oct. 9 to 13.

Q: Why are you excited, and why might other people be interested?

"Spring Awakening" is known for winning the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2007. It has been wildly accepted by audiences of all kind for its message and music.

Twelve young people make their way through the thrilling, complicated and mysterious time of sexual awakening. A celebration of rebellion, "Spring Awakening" explores the journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy and passion that you will never forget. It has mature themes and language, and it may not be suitable for children.

Q: When is the event and how can people get tickets?

The musical will run from Oct. 9-13. All shows will start at 7:30 p.m. except Sunday which starts at 2 p.m. The house will open half an hour before the curtain.

The MU Box Office is located in the Rhynsburger Theatre lobby in the Fine Arts Building at MU. The box office is open from 4 to 6 p.m.  Monday through Friday. For tickets and more information, call 882-7529.
