Cougars volleyball wins two games to start Spartan Invitational

ST. LOUIS — The Columbia College volleyball team won its first two matches of the Spartan Invitational on Friday at Missouri Baptist University.

Columbia College defeated Friends University (Kan.) 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-14) and Trinity International University (Ill.) 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-14).

Junior outside hitter Sarah Schwentker had a match-high 16 kills in the first match, and senior middle hitter Carol Berger led the team with 10 kills in the second match. 

The Cougars move to 17-4 on the season. The team is scheduled to finish the Spartan Invitational with two more matches on Saturday against Cornerstone University (Mich.) and Grand View University (Iowa).
