Columbia College volleyball loses twice at Spartan Invitational

COLUMBIA — The No. 22-ranked Columbia College volleyball team suffered a pair of five set losses in the final day of the Spartan Invitational on Saturday, bringing its record to 17-6 on the season.

The Cougars lost their first match of the day to Cornerstone University, 25-21, 19-25, 27-29, 25-18, 10-15.

The second match saw Columbia take the first two sets against No. 19 Grand View University, 25-22 and 25-19. But the Eagles rallied after the break, winning three straight sets, 25-21, 25-22 and 15-12.

Senior middle hitter Trinity Ojo and junior outside hitter Paula Rosa combined for 63 kills on the day while junior utility player Jordan Reid recorded 43 digs.

The Cougars hit the road again on Oct. 17 to play No. 2 University of Texas at Brownsville. The undefeated Ocelots beat the Cougars in straight sets on Aug. 31.
