COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested on suspicion of drunkenly firing two rounds into the ground during an argument with a neighbor Sunday morning.

Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a report of gunshots shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday on the 6100 block of Sharon Lane, according to a sheriff's department news release.

Recco E. Charters, 30, of Columbia was drunk when the deputies arrived, and they arrested him on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon and of illegally possessing the firearm. Charters was convicted of an earlier robbery, which makes it illegal for him to have a gun, according to the release.
