COLUMBIA — The Stephens College soccer team was defeated 9-0 by William Woods University on Sunday, dropping to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the American Midwest Conference.

Stephens College broke a long streak of not recording a shot attempt when freshman Sammy Dorman shot in the final minutes of the game. But the Owls were too much to handle for the Stars, getting 33 shots and 14 on goal in the first half.

The Stars stepped it up in the second half of the game, cutting the Owls' shots down to nine. The Stars' sophomore goalkeeper Briannica Ponder finished with 10 saves in the game.

Stephens College's next game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday against Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa.
