COLUMBIA —Hallsville public schools are on lockdown for the day, according to a statement from Hallsville School District Superintendent John Robertson.

Robertson said in the statement that the schools are in a "level one" lockdown, meaning that exterior doors are locked and students will be kept inside. Students will attend their normal classes.

In a phone interview, Robertson said the lockdown was in response to a threat made to a parent.

Supervising editor is Richard Webner.
