Nancy M. Hamilton died at her home in Columbia Oct. 10, 2013. She was 83.
Mrs. Hamilton was born Feb. 9, 1930 in Philadelphia to Charles Haughery and Mary Donahue.
A civil service employee long before it was common to work outside the family home, she spent the majority of her government career at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico where she received numerous performance and service awards.
Forever a Notre Dame fan, Nancy also enjoyed playing and watching golf, sharing life with her dogs and had quite a “green thumb” with flowers and African violets.
Mrs. Hamilton’s main commitment were her two children and grandchildren whom she loved and supported selflessly. Survivors include her son, Mark Hamilton and his wife Vicki, of Florida; a daughter, Dawn Nunez, and her spouse, Brenda, of Columbia; four grandchildren, Ben Hamilton, and Joshua, Adrienne, and Aaron Nunez; sister, Pat Morris and her husband, Dale, of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her parents, sister Jane Guinther, and brother William Haughery died before.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Patient Assistance Funds at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, 65212 or Home Instead Senior Care, 1412 Interstate 70 SW, Columbia, 65203.
