UPDATE: 1 injured in shooting on Business Loop 70

COLUMBIA — One man was injured in a shooting Thursday evening outside of the Break Time convenience store at 4 Business Loop 70.

Columbia police officers were dispatched at 5:31 p.m., said Sgt. Joe Bernhard, public information officer. The victim was not present when officers arrived, but they discovered several shell casings and a small amount of blood in the parking lot.

The injured man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at University Hospital, Bernhard said. Officers were at the hospital.

The shooter is not in custody, Bernhard said, and there is not a confirmed suspect description.
