COLUMBIA — The Missouri women's soccer team defeated No. 7 South Carolina 2-1 on Friday.

The win marks the second time this season that the squad has defeated a No. 7 team after defeating Florida on Sept. 29. The last time this was accomplished was in 2008 when Missouri defeated three Top-10 teams before taking the Big 12 Conference tournament title.

The two goals, scored by junior Taylor Grant and senior Alyssa Diggs, were two of eight that South Carolina has allowed in its 15 games this season.

The Gamecocks attempted to tie the game with three shots in the last 11 minutes, but redshirt junior goalie McKenzie Sauerwein did not allow it. Sauerwein had seven saves during the game.

Missouri improves to 7-7-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Southeastern Conference action, while South Carolina falls to 12-2-1 and 5-2-0.

Missouri will face Auburn at 1 p.m. on Sunday at home.
