FROM READERS: Local author talks about release of new book in fantasy series

Friday, October 25, 2013 | 6:00 a.m. CDT

Eric Tripp is a local author. The third book of his Dominique Ick Lessont book series will be released Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The Dominique Ick Lessont book series is a fantasy/adventure tale, which takes place in a medieval world. The series takes the reader on an epic adventure to try and save the land of Lecieldo from dark forces that threaten the world. I have always had a passion for creative writing. I grew up in southeast Iowa and moved to Columbia in 2007 to work as a youth minister. After working in that role for almost four years, I moved on and began writing my book series for teens and young adults.

In the first book, Dominique Ick Lessont and the Dragon Knight, we follow the character Icarus. Icarus and his family are new to the land of Lecieldo and when dark forces attack, Icarus is forced to flee but does so with the hope of finding help and returning to save his family. To his amazement he discovers elves, sorcerers, and other mythical beings who return with him to help protect his family.

The second book, Dominique Ick Lessont: Spirits and Legends, takes the reader deeper into the mysteries of the land known as Lecieldo. The reader is taken on three separate journeys with three different characters: Elayne the sorceress, Gavin the elf, and Icarus. Throughout this narrative the three characters’ stories intertwine. Before the end they realize they must work together if they are going to have any hope of defeating, once and for all, the threat of the dark army who are quickly approaching to destroy the land.

On November 12, 2013 the third book, Dominique Ick Lessont and the Lords of Lecieldo, will be released. In this tale, the well-known character Icarus sends out messengers to the kings, lords, and leaders of the clans who dwell in Lecieldo. His goal is to unite the land and make a stand against the dark army that is coming to destroy them. The reader will follow the messengers as they learn more about the different nations who dwell in the land, as well as continuing to follow Icarus, Gavin, and Elayne. Icarus will also uncover mysteries about those who lead the dark army, which will help him understand where this army came from and why it seeks to destroy Lecieldo.

The fourth and final book of the series, Dominique Ick Lessont: Darkness, is scheduled to be released on December 13, 2014. This book will finally bring Icarus and his allies up against the full force of the dark army, deciding once and for all the fate of Lecieldo.

I am already planning to write several more books once my Dominique Ick Lessont series is completed. These books, also available as audio books and e-books, can be purchased at Audible.com, iTunes, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. They are accessible at Daniel Boone Regional Library as well.
