James Alan Carey, 54, passed away on the evening of October 14, 2013 in Harlingen, TX.
There will be a visitation at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 25th at First Christian Church followed by the funeral at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, MO.
Jim was born on September 21st, 1959 to Marjorie Maxine and Thomas J. Carey in Columbia, MO. He graduated from Hickman High School in June of 1978. He was preceded in death by both parents, and a nephew, Gregory Carey.
Jim was a warm and loving individual who enjoyed family and friends. He enjoyed barbecuing, preparing smoked meats and participating in chili cook offs. During his life he enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, riding dirt bikes, golf and baseball. He played on the Columbia Stags for several years and on softball teams in the years following. Jim was never blessed with his own children, but he loved all of his nieces and nephews as his own.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Chris Carey of Santa Rosa, Texas; brother, Ronald Carey of Sabillasville, Maryland; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and John Hickey of Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Dian Carey of Mexico, Missouri; and sister, Pamela Duesenberg of Chesterfield, Missouri. He is also survived by eight nieces, six nephews, and his loving four-legged partner, Brittney.
