Anna Laura Cannaday, 67, of Columbia, passed away the evening of Sunday, October 20, 2013, after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with services to immediately follow.
Ann was born in Granite City, Ill., on June 22, 1946, to Anson Eugene and Anna Maurine Milster. She was married to Gary Cannaday on June 8, 1969, in Columbia and just recently celebrated their 44th anniversary. Gary said, “She was the love of my life, and we were true soul mates.”
She and Gary loved to drive through the mountains of Colorado and explore. At home they enjoyed driving around town looking for treasures in antique stores or sales, and they always looked forward to date night grabbing dinner at favorite restaurants and finishing the evening at the boat in Boonville. Nothing gave her greater joy than to spend time with her family and friends, which she loved dearly.
Ann is survived by her husband, Gary Cannaday; son Christopher Cannaday (David) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter Shannon Dietzel (Mark) of Columbia; daughter Carrie Cannaday of Columbia; brother Johnny Milster (Charlotte) of Montgomery City, Mo.; brother Frank Milster (Nancy) of Mexico, Mo.; sister Chanda Wainscott (Tim) of Kansas City, Mo.; and sister Sandra Freiling (Carl) of Ashland.
One of her greatest joys was her spending time with her grandchildren: Andrea Dietzel, Gary Dietzel, Hannah Dietzel, Emma Adams, and Lilly Cannaday.
