Ella Mae Aitkens Bright enjoyed dancing, ceramics, babysitting grandchildren

BOONVILLE – Ella Mae Aitkens Bright of Boonville died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. She was 73.

She was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Boone County to Robert Vaughan and Margaret Roberts.

She married Robert G. Aitkens on Dec. 24, 1953. He died Aug. 7, 2007. She then married Danny Bright on Dec. 31, 2011.

In addition to babysitting her grandchildren, she enjoyed ceramics, casinos, bingo, collecting dolls and boots, and dancing. She also had a love for birds.

Mrs. Bright is survived by her husband, Danny Bright, of Boonville; her stepmother, Barbara Wheeler, of Columbia; seven children, Robert Aitkens and his wife, Priscilla Stone, of Clark, Danny Aitkens and his wife, Susan, of Hartsburg, Eddie Aitkens and his wife, Karen, of Centralia, Danny Bright Jr. and his wife, Bernita, of Boonville, Pam Pohle and her husband, Robert Morrison, of Boonville, Karen Huggins and her husband, Marc, of Boonville, and Joe Bright and his wife, Tamara, of North Carolina; three siblings, Patsy, Opal and Gene; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. 

Her first husband, Robert G. Aitkens; a stepson; three siblings; and her parents died earlier.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will begin at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
