Born February 28, 1924, to Edward F. Long and Myrtle T. Kopp in Huron, South Dakota. She joined 3 older brothers Frank, Ray and Harry.
When a young woman she worked in a factory supporting our wartime efforts and later became a military wife where she volunteered her time as a Red Cross member at the various military hospitals and at the Base Youth Teen Centers wherever they were stationed. Returning to the Winfield-St.Charles area after military retirement, she entered into a successful restaurant business.
As a lasting tribute to her late husband, Marion R. Argent, Retired USAF, and for her love of our country and military, she donated property for the relocation of V.F.W Post 5517 of the Winfield/Old Monroe area. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxlliary V.F.W. Post 5517, where for several years she served as their President, receiving national recognition and a number of awards.
She loved to bowl, dance, travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. After her retirement, she and her significant other of 20 years, Earl Lindner (St. Louis), spent time traveling to Europe, Hawaii and cruised to various destinations. She loved spending time at their cabin on the Mississippi River where family and friends spent years sharing this joy with her along with her and at her winter location in Apache Junction, AZ.
Her loving family and circle of friends will miss her. To carry on her legacy is her son, Retired US Army Lt.Col S.John Gerron (Donna) of Kennedale TX, daughters Jackie Singh (Peter) of Rockford, IL and Pamela Lindsey of Ashland MO., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, she would be very proud to have you donate to either the Wounded Warriors Foundation or your local Honor Flight Organization in your area in her name.
