COLUMBIA — Marilyn W. Russell of Columbia died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. She was 74.
She was born April 26, 1939, in Buckner, Ark., to Norris M. and Mildren Louise Tubb Walthall.
She attended North Little Rock High School, Baylor University and Duke University for graduate school. In 1962, she earned her M.A. in teaching.
She married Robert W. Russell in May 1961. She taught at Dan River High School in Virginia from 1962 to 1963. In 1965, Mrs. Russell began teaching at the undergraduate level at Averett University. She taught at Western Piedmont Community College from 1977 to 1979 and William Jewell College from 1984 to 1991.
She also was a member of First Baptist Church and Trail Quilters Guild.
Russell is survived by her husband, Robert, of Columbia; a son John Russell of Springfield; a daughter Rebekah Farabaugh and her husband, Jeff Farabaugh, of Livonia, Mich.; a brother Christopher Walthall and his wife, Leslie Walthall, of North Little Rock, Ark.; four sisters, Rachel McDaniel and her husband, Albert McDaniel, of Farmington, Mass., Cheryl Ratliff of North Little Rock, Ark., Deborah White and her husband, Mark, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Donna Ward of North Little Rock, Ark.;two grandchildren, Broc Crook and Finley Russell.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at First Baptist Church, 1112 East Broadway.
