Judith Bernhardt enjoyed sewing and gardening

COLUMBIA — Judith M. Bernhardt of Columbia died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013. She was 64.

She was born on March 21, 1949, in Baltimore, Md., to Vincent E. and Eleanor Murphy. She graduated from Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, N.J., in 1967. She attended Doane College in Crete, Neb.

She married Dennis E. Bernhardt in 1969.

Mrs. Bernhardt worked for the Days Inn in various positions and also worked at the MU School of Nursing. She was also an executive secretary to the administrator of the Rusk Rehabilitation Center in Columbia.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, singing, traveling and attending all of her children's activities. She was a member of her church choir. She was also a former president of the PTA at Ridgeway Elementary School.

Mrs. Bernhardt is survived by her husband, Dennis; three children, Joanna Evans and her husband, Judson, of Fayette, Stephen Bernhardt and his wife, April, of Ashland, and David Bernhardt and his wife, Jessica, of Columbia; three siblings, Patricia Steele and her husband, Bruce, of New Jersey, Kathleen Wutkiewicz of Pennsylvania, and Vincent E Murphy II and his wife, Carol, of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren, Zachary Evans, Carson Evans, Lauren Evans, Blake Evans, Kayla Judith Evans, Isabella Bernhardt, Benjamin Bernhardt and Molly Bernhardt.

Her parents, Vincent E. and Eleanor Murphy, died earlier.
