Eli Henry Schneider served in Navy during WWII, enjoyed gardening

COLUMBIA — Eli Henry Schneider of Columbia died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. He was 87.

The youngest of six children, Mr. Schneider was born on Dec. 19, 1925, to William J. and Matilda (Gieseler) Schneider in Marthasville.

On Aug. 16, 1947, he married Helen Korth, and she survives him. Mr. Schneider served his country in the Navy during World War II. He later served in the Veterans Administration and the Social Security Administration for more than 30 years. He was a member of Christian Chapel Assembly of God. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He resided at Lenoir Woods for the past 15 years.

There will be a visitation from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Funeral services will immediately follow. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schneider is survived by one sister, Esther Schmitt of Florida; two great nephews, Chris Linke of Center and Phillip Linke of St. Louis; and cousins.

His sisters Ida Linke and Cora Struchtemeyer and one infant sister; a brother, Paul Schneider; his parents; his mother-in-law, Lena Korth, and father-in-law, Fred Korth; and three brothers-in-law died before him.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenoir Woods Benevolent Care Fund or to the Central Missouri Humane Society.
