SEC names Mauk freshman of the week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk is the Southeastern Conference's freshman of the week following the Tigers 48-17 win over Kentucky on Saturday.

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall and Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley are the SEC offensive and defensive players of the week.

The league also named Auburn return man/cornerback Chris Davis special teams player of the week on Monday.

Marshall rushed for a career-high 214 on 14 carries with two touchdowns against Tennessee. He passed for a third touchdown.

It was the highest rushing total in the SEC this season.

Mosley had 12 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups in Alabama's win over LSU.

Davis scored on an 85-yard punt return and also had a 42-yarder.

Mississippi tackle Laremy Tunsil received offensive line honors, and Vanderbilt end Caleb Azubike is defensive lineman of the week.
