COLUMBIA — Missouri volleyball junior Whitney Little was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The All-SEC middle blocker contributed to Missouri's key defensive play during its two road wins against Auburn and Alabama. During the Auburn match, Little posted seven blocks including two solo stuffs. At Alabama, Little had her sixth career 10-block match, which is a program record.
"This is a great award for me personally, but I think it comes mostly because our team won two tough road matches last week," Little said in a news release. "I never could have done as well as I did on the block without preparing in practice every day."
The No. 7 Missouri volleyball team takes its perfect 29-0 record back on the road with a rematch against No. 5 Florida on Friday. The last time the two teams met, Missouri upset Florida in four sets. A Missouri win would give the Tigers a two-game lead in the conference standings.
