Gail Finch Hubbell loved knitting, reading

COLUMBIA — MU alumna Gail Finch Hubbell loved knitting, reading and music.

Mrs. Hubbell died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. She was 75.

She was born Sept. 1, 1938, to James Austin and Helen Carroll Finch. She attended Central High School in Cape Giradeau, MU and Central Methodist Nursing School in Fayette.

Mrs. Hubbell was involved in several activities and volunteering groups, including Chapter AZ of P.E.O., the King's Daughters, Delta Delta Delta sorority, Boone County Medical Society Alliance, knitting study groups, the Board of Directors of Friends of Music, the First Monday Book Club, the MUMC Breakfast Group Church Circle, the Last Wednesday Bridge Club and the Monday Mahjong Group.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Dr. Ira G. Hubbell; her son, Gregory Alan Sickal and his wife, Sue; her brothers, James Austin Finch III and wife, Carolyn, and John David Finch and wife, Kay; her grandsons, Thomas Ira Atkins and Andrew Finch Atkins; her cousin, Sarah Putsavage and husband, Larry; and a stepson, George Peyton Hubbell.

Her daughter, Tamara Gail Atkins, died earlier.

A private burial will be held Nov. 29, in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. in Columbia, followed by a memorial service at Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S. Ninth St. at 2 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coyote Hill Christian Children's Home, PO Box 1, 9501 W. Coyote Hill Road, Harrisburg, MO 65256, or Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S. Ninth St., Columbia, MO  65201.
