COLUMBIA — Elaine Heaney Buddemeyer of Columbia died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. She was 79.
She was born March 1, 1934 in Morristown, N.J., to James and Julia (Fitzgerald) Heaney.
Mrs. Buddemeyer moved from Mountain Lakes, N.J., to Columbia to attend Stephens College, graduating in 1954. She married James Robert Buddemeyer on Nov. 23, 1956, in Tulsa, Okla. For 35 years, she worked as a lab receptionist for Boone Hospital Center. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Mrs. Buddemeyer is survived by two sons, James William Buddemeyer and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Columbia; Karl Patrick Buddemeyer and his wife, Mona, of Ashland; a daughter, Julie Borders of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren Christopher Borders, Katy and Andrew Buddemeyer, Ian, Aidan, Rowan, Lachlan "Gus" Buddemeyer and Skyler Crane.
Her husband, James "Bud", sisters, Frances and Dorothy, and infant son, Richard, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. A Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Drive, followed by a burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. After the burial, the family will celebrate Mrs. Buddemeyer's life in Flanagan Hall at the church.
