COLUMBIA — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 14-year-old girl reported missing Thursday.

Desiree Marion was last seen at 8:40 a.m. that day after a family member dropped her off at school.

Officers say Marion left a note saying that she was voluntarily leaving home and that she did not want her family to search for her. Police responded to the runaway report shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.

Marion is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 156 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black coat, gray jogging pants and gray boots.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.

Supervising editor is Zachary Matson.
