COLUMBIA — The Westminster men's soccer team is heading to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III tournament after its 1-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday in Saint Peter, Minn.

This is the first time the Blue Jays have advanced to the Sweet 16.

Junior Mitch Stewart scored the winning goal, assisted by freshman Drew Cook and sophomore Samuel Lopez. Freshman keeper Raul Belman Romero recorded his fourth shutout of the year, defending a total of seven shots, including six in the second half.

Westminster (13-8-1 overall) is scheduled to face Loras College at Bob Bierie Field in Dubuque, Iowa, this weekend, according to the NCAA's website. If the Blue Jays can win two games in Iowa, they travel to San Antonio to compete in the national semifinals.
