Marilyn Colster worked for the Postal Service for more than 20 years

COLUMBIA — Marilyn Sue (Adams) Colster of Columbia died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. She was 72.

A lifelong Missourian, Ms. Colster was born July 19, 1941, in Windyville to Mima Veda (Burtin) and Ardra Norman Adams.

She graduated from Moberly High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Secretarial Science from Central Missouri State University, now the University of Central Missouri.

She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 20 years.

In her time off, Ms. Colster enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her three grandchildren.

Ms. Colster is survived by her son, Christopher Adams Colster of Madison, Ala.; her daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Johnson, and her husband, Kyle, of Zimmerman, Minn.; two brothers, Norman Ronald Adams and his wife, Darlene, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Gary Sheldon Adams and his wife, Christine, of Overland Park, Kan.; and three grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Colster and Emily Christine Colster, of Aiken, S.C., and Canyon Andrew Johnson of Zimmerman, Minn.

Her parents, Mima Veda and Ardra Norman Adams; and her brother, Jerry Arnold Adams, died earlier.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery, Laclede, MO 65536
