Elmer Carl Cook, Aug. 19-1925-Nov. 28, 2013

Elmer Carl Cook, 88, of Columbia, died Nov. 28, 2013.

Mr. Cook was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Columbia to Ira and Minnie (Acton) Cook. In 1950, he married Bernice Hague in Columbia.

He retired from the 1925 Carpenters’ Local. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and member of Midway Heights Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife;  two sons, Jimmy Carl Cook and his wife, Marcella, of Fayette and Billy A. Cook and his wife, Jill, of Columbia; one daughter, Teresa Ann Cook and her husband, Chuck Melloway, of Hallsville; six grandchildren, Lisa Cook of Kansas, Heather Skaggs and her husband, Devin, of Fayette, Justin Cook and his wife Danielle, of New Franklin, Todd Cook of Fayette, Billy Carl Barnhart of Columbia and Kelsey Strubel and her husband Andy, of Columbia; and seven great-grandchildren.

His parents, daughter Brenda Kay, five sisters and two brothers died earlier.
