COLUMBIA — The Short Street parking garage will be open for public use beginning 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Construction of the garage, at 1100 E. Walnut St., began on June 20, 2012, and cost an estimated $9,625,000, according to a news release from the Columbia Public Works Department.

The garage contains 420 parking spaces. Parking rates will be equal to other city parking garages.

An art project and formal dedication for the garage are scheduled for spring 2014, according to the release.
