Hickman girls win opener by 51 points

COLUMBIA — The Hickman girls basketball team won in convincing fashion to open its season Monday. Hickman won 90-39 at Waynesville.

Hickman led 21-9 after the first quarter and distanced itself more with a 53-13 halftime lead. Emily Miller scored a team-high 28 points for Hickman. Jordan Mathews added 20 points and five assists to Hickman's win.

The next game for Hickman is at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Columbia College against Troy Buchanan.
