Francis (Fritz) Mitchell Daugherty passed away at his home in Ocala, Fla., on November 28, 2013. He was 91.
Fritz was born April 7, 1922, to Fountain and Virginia Daugherty. He was the youngest of 4 boys. He was in the Navy during WW2 and served as a machinist mate. After leaving the navy he met and married Anna Frances Pitney. They were married for 46 years. She preceded him in death. He married JoAnn Hatton in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, a son, Jack Daugherty, 2 grandchildren, Scott Daugherty and Erin Daugherty, both of Columbia, and 3 great-grandchildren, Braden, Drake and Anna.
Fritz was a home builder and developer in Columbia until retirement. He had a private pilot's license and ﬂew to Lake of the Ozarks, where he spent hours on the water boating and skiing with family and friends. An avid golfer, he was one of the founders of the country club of Missouri. After retirement he spent winters in Arizona allowing him to play golf year round.
In lieu of ﬂowers the family requests donations to the Prostrate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401, or Hospice.
Services will be at Woodcrest church, 2201 West Nifong Blvd. in Columbia, Monday, December 9, at 1:00, with Pastor Pieter VanWaarde ofﬁciating. Internment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
