Hickman headed to championship game

COLUMBIA — The Hickman boys basketball team is headed to Friday's 7 p.m. championship game of the 43rd annual Troy Boys Invitational. Hickman defeated Westminster 70-56 in Wednesday's semifinal.

Junior guard Jimmy Whitt led Hickman with 23 points and eight steals. Hickman senior Mason Murray added 15 points, and senior guard Chris Clark scored 12 points.

Hickman clung to a 12-11 lead after the first quarter, but it pulled away in the second quarter and led 32-21 at halftime. Hickman built its lead to 53-36 entering the fourth quarter before ending up with a 14-point win.
