Former nurse's assistant Esther "Hoppy" Hopper loved taking care of people

COLUMBIA — Esther "Hoppy" Hopper died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. She was 83.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1930 in Boulder, Colo.

She married Keith Hopper in Kirksville in 1957, who died earlier.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and nurse's assistant, Mrs. Hopper loved to take care of people. She worked at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Hopper is survived by her daughters, Lynne Noel and Janet McGee; her grandchildren Jeff McGee, Brandi Wiles, Susan Lowrey, Ryan Noel and Jonathan Noel; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wanda Hunker, and her brother-in-law, Stephen Hunker.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Hopper's two siblings, Alta Reimnitz and Dale Lea; her son, James Earl Hopper; and her parents died earlier.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at Prairie Grove Baptist Church, 800 E. Park Lane.
