Police investigate Sunday afternoon shooting in north Columbia

COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting in north Columbia.

At 2:33 p.m., police officers responded to a disturbance on the 2900 block of Lawnridge Court after receiving reports of shots fired inside and outside an apartment building. Officers found evidence of the shooting but didn't find any victims, according to a news release from the department.

Witnesses said they saw several males running south away from the scene, according to the release.
