COLUMBIA — The Columbia College volleyball team learned Monday that two players received All-American honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Senior middle hitter Trinity Ojo received first-team honors, and junior Lydie van Deursen was given an honorable mention.
Ojo led the Cougars in hitting percentage at .477, which ranked second in the NAIA for the season. She had 441 kills, 105 blocks and 43 digs this season.
Van Duersen had 1,543 assists this year, which is eighth in school history for a single season. She also added 240 digs, 114 kills, 53 blocks and 50 aces. This was van Duersen's first season at Columbia after starting her career at Redlands Community College.
Ojo also added NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team honors over the weekend. She led Columbia out of pool play at the 24-team National Championships where Columbia was one of 12 teams to advance to the single-elimination round. Ojo had 52 kills and helped Columbia go 2-2 at the national championships in Sioux City, Iowa.
