Pleasant Hill girls basketball holds off Battle

Monday, December 9, 2013 | 9:53 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — The Battle girls basketball team lost to Pleasant Hill 48-43 at the Blue Springs tournament Monday.

A difficult second quarter proved too much to overcome for Battle. The first quarter ended with Battle leading 10-8, but Battle went scoreless in the second quarter. Pleasant Hill led 19-10 at halftime.

Battle cut into that lead the second half, but the team could not overcome their scoreless quarter Monday.

Maya Mouton led Battle with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Battle's Cheyanna Weaver added nine points and three steals.

Battle is now 1-3 this season going into a 4 p.m. game Wednesday at the Blue Springs tournament game against Raytown South.
