Hickman boys, girls basketball win tournament in Kansas City

COLUMBIA — The Hickman boys and girls basketball teams both claimed the championship titles at the Blue Springs/Blue Spring South Basketball Tournament on Saturday in Kansas City.

Behind at halftime, the Hickman boys team came back to beat Park Hill 57-48.

Jimmy Whitt scored the team-high 17 points for Hickman. Other leading scorers were Douglas Johnson with 15, Mason Murray with 12 and Chris Clark with 9.

Whitt and Clark made the All-Tournament Team.

The Hickman girls team defeated Blue Springs South 74-61.

Jordan Matthews was the team's top scorer with 20 points, followed by Emily Miller with 17.

Miller and Kendahl Adams made the All-Tournament Team.

Hickman boys return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Bridge. The girls' first home game will be against Rolla at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
