Harry Donald Bailey, World War II veteran, earned 6 battle stars

Harry Donald Bailey of Columbia died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013. He was 93.

He was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Mansfield, Pa., to Arthur W. Bailey and Ethel B. Stickler Bailey. He married Rosemary Flaitz on April 19, 1941.

Mr. Bailey was a World War II veteran and was awarded six battle stars for his service. He worked for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. as a manager and, after retirement, worked at the Wyoming County Community Hospital.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose International, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Arkansas Wood Carvers and National Audubon Society. Mr. Bailey enjoyed being involved in choir and delivered many music ensembles.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Rosemary Bailey; a daughter, Donna Rae Leith; a son, Robert G. Bailey; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held.
