Gracehelen Gentry, April 13, 1937 — Dec. 28, 2013, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — Gracehelen Gentry, 76, of Columbia went to heaven after courageously battling alzheimer’s on December 28, 2013 peacefully at her home.

Gracehelen was born April 13, 1937 in Boone County to the late Carl Diltz and Helen Lane.

Gracehelen was married to Harold Gentry on April 17, 1953 in North Kansas City, MO and they shared sixty wonderful years together. She was a member of Nianger Chapter of D.A.R. She was a past president of Lady Elks Lodge 2705 of Gravois Mill, Missouri. She spent her professional career working for Dr. Windmiller for seventeen years. The last thing to leave Gracehelen was her smile.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Gentry; two sons, Steven Gentry of Danapoint, CA and Ronald Gentry of Columbia; a grandson of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Robert Diltz (Joyce) of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation is from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. Tributes can be left online at
