What to know before attending the New Year's Eve celebration in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA — Columbia Eve Fest will be held Tuesday evening with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. as a block-party style atmosphere.

The New Year's Eve celebration will take place in a concentrated area on Ninth Street between Elm and Locust streets.

No fireworks are scheduled this year; instead, cannons will shoot confetti into the air at midnight. Other changes include expanded entertainment options and a centralized food lot near Shakespeare's Pizza.

Performances will be held in the Missouri Theatre, Columbia Art League and the Methodist church.
