Dollar General robbed at gunpoint

COLUMBIA — A man robbed a Dollar General cashier at gunpoint around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to a Columbia Police Department media release.

Police said the man entered the Dollar General at 3700 Monterey Dr. with a handgun and demanded money. He grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and ran south. The cashier was not injured.

Police were gathering information and video surveillance from the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. 

Police ask that anyone with information contact CPD or Crime Stoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
