COLUMBIA — A winter weather advisory has been posted for Columbia and Jefferson City from midnight until noon Thursday for light snow and freezing drizzle.

The precipitation was expected to develop overnight and continue into Thursday morning, with accumulations of up to an inch of snow and a light glazing of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

The latest forecast for Columbia called for a chance of snow before 3 a.m. Thursday, then snow likely would mix with freezing drizzle before noon.

Boone County was on the northern edge of winter weather advisories that covered the southern half of Missouri. Untreated roads, parking lots and sidewalks could become slick, the Weather Service advised.

Check the Missouri Department of Transportation's traveler's map for the latest road conditions around the state.
