Joyce Pace Friedlander died January 2, 2014 in San Mateo, CA. Joyce was born March 3rd, 1938, to Julia Lloyd and Paul Lindell Pace in rural Centralia, Boone County, Missouri. She attended Grassland school in Boone County and Rawlings rural school in Howard County. Graduating from Hickman High School in the class of 1955, and University of Missouri, Columbia, 1959, Joyce was married in 1959 to Wiley Clemon Small. They later divorced and Joyce married Jack Friedlander who preceded her in death in 2011.

Joyce was inducted into National Honor Society in her junior year at Hickman serving on the Cresset staff her senior year. Joyce’s occupation was hematologist at Lucile Salter Packard children’s hospital at Stanford, Palo Alto, CA.

Survivors are son Matthew Clemon Small, of San Mateo, CA, daughter Cynthia Small Blank, (Jeff) grandsons Paul and Charley Blank of Cupertino, CA and a sister Laura Jane Pace Crane of Columbia, Missouri. Joyce’s parents and a brother, Charles Monroe Pace preceded her in death.

Services will be Feb. 8 at the Harbortown Clubhouse in San Mateo, Calif.
