Lowry Henley was assistant director of Memorial Union and Brady Commons

COLUMBIA — Lowry Henley of Columbia died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. He was 91.

Mr. Henley was born Sept. 20, 1922 in Joplin to H. A. (Hez) and Niena Isherwood Henley.

He graduated from Hickman High School where he served the captain of the Kewpie golf team and lettered in golf. He later attended MU, where he played on the 1949 Big Seven Conference championship golf team.

He married his wife, Jane (Deason), June 7, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas. Mr. Henley retired from MU as the assistant director for Memorial Union and Brady Commons.

Mr. Henley is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ware, and her husband, David, of St. Louis; a son, Robert Henley, and his wife, Cynthia, of Independence; and a sister, Martha Goodwin, of Florida.

Mr. Henley's wife, Jane, and three brothers died earlier.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Thursday with service to follow at Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Missouri Athletics Golf Scholarship Fund.
