COLUMBIA — The Missouri softball team has earned a No. 14 ranking in the Division I preseason poll by USA Today and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. It is the Tigers' fifth consecutive preseason ranking in the nation's top 15.
Seven other Southeastern Conference teams — No. 1 Tennessee, No. 4 Florida, No. 6 Alabama, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 12 Kentucky, No. 17 LSU and No. 23 Georgia — are also in the top 25, making the SEC the nation's leading conference.
The Tigers finished 38-14 overall and 15-8 in the SEC last season and advanced to the team's sixth consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearance. They ended the season ranked No. 11 by the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll.
Missouri begins its 2014 season with the Black & Gold Exhibition on Feb. 8 at Devine Practice Facility.
